Well...I have done a terrible job at keeping up with Learning 2.0 but I hope to catch up sometime this week between class and work! YEEHAW!

Flickr image blog...

Hemmingway cat_2410.JPG, originally uploaded by kittykowalski.

So where is this cat from...

...its a Hemmingway house cat! I chose this cat because it looks like my cat but also I am in love with the Hemmingway house...although I am not as partial to it's late owner. Next year I will be getting married in Key West (if plans don't change) and I will be visiting these lovely 6 toed wonders.

Flickr and Facebook...

...neither are favorties of mine. I have had accounts at both sites for a few a couple of years. Neither has been my favorite. Until recently, I ignored that I even had a facebook account. Facebook to me seemed very impersonal. While I have heard some people say they liked facebook for its simplicity, I prefer Myspace because I can make it my own. I dislike facebook even more at this point because it took away the simplicity but did not add anything that can really make your site exclusively yours. All the applications, while fun, are added by multitudes of people making everyone the same as everyone else. Let's just face it....when it pops up on your screen that you have been bitten by one of your friends and turned into a vampire 50 times a day...its annoying as hell.

Flickr...well it has a lot of fun components as well, but at the end of the day all I want to do is find a place to host my image so I can use sed image elsewhere. I don't really need to see every photo that has a certain color in it. Maybe its just me being selfish. I prefer Myspace which may just be a nod to my age and photobucket, which may make me seem positively geriatric.

Social Networking 101...

...although I could be in the masters class...

I think its a grand idea for libraries to create their own sites on different internet venues. There are many 'kids' or *ahem* young adults who check myspace or facebook more than they see their parents in a day.

I am glad to see that some of my colleagues are seeing these sites as more than just a time waster. Before my days of myspace, I used Xanga and it was a good way for me to not only network but also a creative outlet, a place to get all my thoughts out without making someone listen.

These lessons seem to be bridging a gap, not only between patron and employee but also between the younger employees and those that are more world experienced. I feel that my generation is being more understood by each click of the mouse. :)

Learning 2.0

Hey everybody!

I meant to start Learning 2.0 earlier and then I thought I was too late to go ahead and start, but here I am. Hopefully we aren't being tested for grammar and syntax because I tend to get a little lazy when it comes to typing. I'll try my darndest to live up to my English degree and produce well thought out sentences that include a subject, a predicate, and all that other junk. :)

The video we watched in the last lesson was very informative! I thought it touched all the bases on what 2.0 is trying to relate. I know that this will be helpful to everyone involved no matter how much or how little we know about this animal we call 'the internet.'

Have a lovely weekend and HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13th! OOOOOHHHHH!
